Strange behavior in Project track list

Can’t find this in the manual. There is a narrow white strip running along the right edge of the numbers in the track list. Not sure that has anything to do with this, but seems like it might. I added a new audio track and everything looks right and plays right with it.
However, when I click on the track to select it, the white strip jumps all over the place and I cannot select the track. My selection always jumps to another track. Seems very strange to me. Any help appreciated.

Hi,

This means, you have a MIDI Remote Device or any other kind of Remote Device (for example Mackie Control) enabled. The white line shows you the bank of Channels, which are currently linked to the hardware (remote device).

Thanks, Martin.
Why can’t I select the track in question? It’s the only one that behaves like that.
Also, when I try to select that track, the white line jumps to other tracks.

Hi,

What kind of Remote Device do you use?

If you use a MIDI Remote Device, how did you get it? Did you download any script? Did you write own script? Did you use the Mapping Assistant?

All the devices I use are old and I’ve used them for a long time without a strange problem like this. I don’t download or write script and I don’t use the mapping assistant.

Hi,

Can you reproduce it with all projects, it just a single one?

There is no remote device selected. I am pretty far along with mixing this project
and there are a lot of inserts, eq, etc. Are you suggesting that I copy and open the files in another project?
I certainly can’t reproduce the problem in another project. Is there a way to get rid of the white lines if no remoter MIDI device is selected?
I tried this, but “State” still reads “active”.
PROCEDURE

  1. Select Studio > Studio Setup.
  2. In the Remote Devices list, select MIDI Port Setup.
  3. In the table on the right, deactivate In ‘All MIDI Inputs’ for the MIDI input to which you have
    connected the MIDI remote device.
    The State column reads Inactive.

Hi,

Obviously there is, as you mention here:

No, there is no way to remove the white line, which informs you, which tracks are under the control of a Remote Device.

Btw, you can see the same lane also in the MixConsole.

My point is that even after I deselected the remote devices, the “active” state remains. According to the manual, which you requoted from my post, status should then become inactive. Am I reading the manual incorrectly?

Hi,

Even if there is no MIDI Input Port assigned, you can see the white line. This is correct.

I’m looking for a solution to the fact that I can’t select several of the tracks in a project.
Because the white line jumps around and lands in different areas when I attempt to select those tracks, I assumed it had something to do with the remote devices.
Correct or not?
Should I disconnect all devices one by one to see if that device is the problem?
I admit I can that at this point I don’t understand how remote devices can affect selection of tracks.

Hi,

Most probably your Remote Devices are setup wrongly. Then something like this could happen.

That’s one solution, or remove all Remote Device.

Or provide more information, what kind of Remote Device do you use and how, please?

Thanks, Martin.
I disconnected my MOTU 128 and can now select the errant track.
The white line remains.
Why? The MOTU 128 is the only way MIDI devices (keyboards and rackmount synths) are connected to the computer.
Not sure how a device like that could be connected “wrongly”. MIDI in, MIDI out, USB.
It’s old. I guess it could be faulty. Driver?
I have a Kurzweil PC3K8 in and out to the 128. I use it primarily as master MIDI keyboard. That drives a SC Prophet 6, a Wavestation, and a Korg rackmount plus the usual plugin instruments.

Hi,

Could you please attach a screenshot of the Studio Setup > MIDI Ports Setup?

Thanks, Martin. The Multiface listed is my Audio Interface that has a MIDI in and out. I have no idea what the Game controller is since I don’t play games and there’s none connected.

When I restarted my computer after disconnecting the MOTO MIDI Express 128, the white line disappeared.

Hi,

In this case, you shouldn’t see any white line anymore.

How does it look like, if you connect your MOTU MIDI Express 18, please? Could you attach a screenshot with this device connected, please?

Hi,

I don’t see any of the port would be in use for any Remote Device. Can you still see the white line? Can you make a screenshot of it, please?

No white line since I unconnected, then reconnected the MOTO Express 128. Thanks for the help!

I briefly used X Touch one controller but didn’t like it and removed it. Unfortunately the white bank lines are still there even though Behringer X Touch unplugged. Can I get rid of those lines? Any advice appreciated - thanks MK
