I’ve just mastered an EP, and one title included the UAD Capitol Mastering Compressor.
I did the “Audio Montage: Loudness Analysis Report” for the whole montage/all three titles, and it looked quite fine.
But then I did the same for my bounces and only for the selected clip with the UAD plugin. Completely different results in all values to my surprise. I’m speaking of more than 2 dB difference in LUFS-I loudness here.
After investigating a bit, it turned out the the UAD Compressor is only part of the measuring, when I don’t select “Whole Montage” but “Selected Clips”. Even when all clips are selected, the results for this specific title are totally different (and correct).
How is this possible? It’s a clip effect, as all my other used plugins too.
(I have a Mac and a PC with the same plugins installed, and the UAD is ignored on both platforms when “Whole montage” is selected)
I can’t test it, because I don’t have Wavelab 12 installed anymore.
But I doubt it. My strange problem is, that with “whole montage” the clips are calculated differently as when I select all clips. But so far only when this specific UAD Capitol Compressor is involved, which seems to be muted in the first case.
I think this will be difficult to solve without having the plugin? My workaround will be to select all clips instead.
