Strange behaviour with tacets

Hi all,

doing layout work on a piano part. Frequently it happens that the tacets are behaving badly. No problem dealing with it, I just have to reset any override on the page and it goes back to normal. It can look like this for instance:

In this particular instance the flow titles disappeared. On another occasion one header was duplicated three times and the rest disappeared.

The override on this (and previous pages) is that I have moved the left side of the music frame in a little bit.

Have you seen this before?

Override deleted, override added:

All is well.

After adding a frame break to push two bars forward from previous page:

Nr 9 and 10 are peacefully sitting on the next page (not in the image).

I would think this could only occur when the page is overridden.

No matter what the override is, it will essentially nail all the frames on that page in place regardless of their content. Flow headings are also frames, so if you have a page with four flow headings and override it, there will always be four flow headings at those locations on that page. If you have a page with no flow headings and override it, no flow heading will appear there. I assume the Tacets are treated as a kind of stave, so their positions are calculated independently from the headings.

All this being said, that’s the reason why one is encouraged to a) wait with any engraving until all the music is in place, and b) to try to achieve as much of the engraving using global settings before making any manual adjustments. In this case you can edit the Default Page Template to indent the music frame a bit w.r.t. the page number, without causing any overrides.

Thank you for the excellent explanation.
Yes, creating a separate set of page templates was my first thought, I should have opted for that instead of the sloppy manual solution.
