Strange issue, possibly related to just-released VE Pro 8.0.490

I just upgraded to the latest VE Pro, 8.0.490.

I’ve encountered a bizarre issue. I’m using a single instance of VE Pro as my sole VST within Dorico. (VEP is hosting about 55 instruments, project size about 17 meg.)

When I load a song in Dorico, as soon as Dorico’s playback engine connects, I hear what might be an initialization sound, expressed as one of my many instruments: piano, triangle, double bass, drums, accordion, etc. Each time I think I’ve fixed the problem, it ends up coming back. Any time I hit play, I hear those weird initialization notes. The instrument that plays the initialization tones sticks with one instrument for a while, eventually it’s another, there’s no rhyme or reason.

It sounds like someone banging on a piano, or bass, or rapidly tapping on a triangle or part the song’s drum kit.

I’ve tried changing the song tempo to 10 bpm. All the instruments play back very slowly, but the initialization sound plays at the same rate.

Just now I clicked on the VEP UI and suddenly it’s gone, for a while?

I’m baffled. Thanks for any suggestions.

Figured this out. Did a clean uninstall of VE Pro 8, restarted system a couple of times, then reinstalled VE Pro.

I suppose the issue was related to updating, since that’s when the problem started. I doubt the issue has anything to do with the software update, other than some aspect of updating didn’t work correctly. Most likely that was something local to my system
