I copied two measures from the staff below to the one above.
When I pasted them, the second measure was fine, but for some reason the first measure did not work as you can see. When I when to reset position after selecting the weird rest, notihng happened, When I told it to remove the whole rest, it showed no rest and then the note on beat 4. I tried copying and pasting the second measure, but that was also unsuccessful. Any ideas as to a fix other than giving up?
Also: how do you restore rests that have been accidentally removed?
Looks like bar 73 in the upper staff is missing a beat or more unless the picture is cropped so that we can’t see the first beat. Or the whole rest in the upper staff is in a different voice.
Could you share the file? Or turn on Voice colors under View->Note and rest colors and make a new picture. On the last beat of 73, perhaps the Starts Voice property is set. Or the Ends Voice in the last note before.
You have to find the last note or rest before the rests disappears and untick Ends Voice in the properties panel. Or the first note after and untick Starts Voice. Or both.
(I think you can also do this without changing the setting in preferences. Once you filter to Notes and Chords, you’ll see the Starts Voice and Ends Voice properties.)
@jesele and @asherber - there are rare situations where someone might have placed an ends voice on a rest. In this case the filter>notes and chords will not detect it.
(Just saying)
