Strange page layout problem

I did remove the frame break at 53.

This is the only problem left (for now). I will watch the videos, and thank you, I just want to fix this one problem first. To move the last bar of system 1 to 2, and extend system 2 across the page.

Sorry, I just fixed it by highlighting a note and clicking Move to Next System.

As to your other suggestions:

I changed it to ‘start each flow on a new page’ so I could print a part without getting the end of the last flow at the beginning. I can switch it back.

I will try hiding empty staves.

I’m used to editing while I do note entry. Clearly, I will have to relearn that.

I will watch the videos.

Thank you!

Hi @donaldskoog1,

Yes definitely! Dorico works very differently than other programs. The workflow can be non linear. And as I said: layout is the last thing that you do (before printing) because you need all items to be present before Dorico can automatically space things, and you can make global decisions (and local ones where necessary). In the videos there are almost all informations you need

As an exercise for myself, nevertheless, I made a possible layout suggestion (only the Full score) for your Project, to see some of the Possibilities. I made it at 5.5mm rastral size.
For the Ragtime I increased slightly the space size (see the properties, in Engrave mode, of the system break at the beginning of ragtime).
I used also Note Spacing Changes: a very flexible and useful functionality.
Hope it can be of some help to analyse my changes, and possibly win some ideas.
But: first the videos

Wow! It also seems like you hid empty staves? This looks so much better. I will try not to screw it up, going forward. On to the videos!

One weird thing, tho. The cello part has vanished from Ragtime. I’m sure it’s in there somewhere.

It’s on the left but not on the right. Luckily, I still have it in the original.

In your original file you unchecked the Violoncello from the Full Score layout:

That’s why in Ragtime (and also in There is a Morn and In the Garden there is no cello):

Just select the Full score layout, and activate the checkmark for the Violoncello.
Then further layout changes are needed, because now you have one player more for some flows. But I need some sleep now… Try it, and ask if something is not working as expected.

Ok, I added the Cello and made the necessary changes (just a couple of clicks)
Here the result:

(now I go to bed)
