I played drums along with a piano track through the song to get a general idea of what I might play.
Then I duplicated the track to have the settings, and deleted everything on it, intending to just record 4 measures at a time with specific ideas. I set the punch in, and tested to see that it comes in correctly. Then I go back to start, and set to play, while I am on the drums. When it comes to the punch in, I hear all these drums, that I played beforre. I look and the whole track has duplicated what was on above in. I thought, maybe I had it set to solo or something, and forgot to turn.off. I mute it. I delete it all and start at the beginning and when it reaches the punch-in and about to play, it all comes back. It duplicated the entire track again. Why?
Audio or MIDI?
It sounds like you created a loopback. The stuff that is output by Cubase gets back to one of the inputs that is being recorded.
Next attempt, it went away.
