Strange space to right of repeat barline

Any idea why this space to the right of the repeat barline is happening? The repeat barline is an “End / Start Repeat” because the section following it also has a start repeat. Setting a spacing offset to 1/8 or -1/8 helps but does not fully correct the problem. I want the barline to be at the end of the system.

Upload the file to get a sensible answer, but the position of the barline looks suspicious.

I’m not sure what’s happening.

If it’s possible for you, it seems to be solved if you choose this Engraving Option (Barlines > Repeats > Change of Time and key Signatures […] > Show after start repeat):

I was about to post the same thing. I can replicate the problem and this fixes it. I think it’s a bug.

Could it be your music font?

What happens if you change that to Bravura? Library → Music Fonts

It looks like. The problem also disappears when you disable condensing.

What version of Dorico are you running? I’ve had a very similar issue recently but I also recall that it got fixed in an update.

So I guess OP is at least on 6.2

I’d say 6.2.20, since this is the one I’m running and I got no disclaimer when opening the file.

This option was introduced in 6.2, I just checked. So, it’s possibly a small bug related to it…?

Turns out I misremembered, the devs know about the bug but are still working on a fix. Apologies for the confusion.

I’m seeing the same symptom in 6.2.30. There’s no condensing and the engraving options didn’t help. Just as I’m writing this I thought to check Staff Visibility – by turning off Hide Empty Staves the problem became apparent :slight_smile: :

You have a clef change in your image. The gap is (correctly) there to allow the cautionary clef to be shown.

Remove the clef change and the gap goes away.

I can reproduce this, if I’ve understood correctly (space left for a cautionary clef of an instrument that doesn’t actually appear in the system). It should be possible to work around it, but it might not be very easy.

Yes, that’s what I figured out. Sorry that I wasn’t clear. I am juggling clef changes in this piano part where I want to show bass clef alone for some sections. If I just let staff visibility do its thing, then that creates a different problem where the chord symbols go away.
