Hey all, I have encountered a very strange volume issue when using Dorico. I have a Kontakt instrument loaded up and at random times the volume on it will drop to -12.2db even though I had it set at -0.6db (within the Kontakt instrument). Has anyone else seen this? I use these same Kontakt instances in other DAWs but only encounter this issue in Dorico. Typically, I’m in Write Mode inputting notes via MIDI keyboard, then all of a sudden I’ll hear the audio change. I go back into Play Mode and check the instrument volume and it has dropped.
Does it change each time you press Play, or literally at random?
Seems to be at random.
Have you saved the Kontakt instrument in Kontakt itself?
I’ve not seen that in Dorico and I use Kontakt regularly. Is the volume controlled by a midi cc that you have automation for?
I have seen it in Cubase though, and the workaround there was to actually to create automation to bring the volume under control of the DAW. I never found out what the root cause was, but I’m guessing something in the VST interface was requesting a reset in the plugin. It only happened with certain libraries, and it happened consistently with those.
Two completely opposite solutions!
