String Articulation Mark

At the Symphony last night, there was a section of a piece where the musicians struck their strings with the horsehair sides of their bows. In other words, it was like col legno but with the hair and not the wood.

What is this called and how is it notated? Thanks.

I suppose it is spiccato, but it was a bit more extreme.

I’d say crini battuto?

HI @konradh, after a fast search I found that this is Battuto con Arco [Edit: or Battuto con Crini, as @charles_piano suggests] (instead of Battuto col Legno) or Battuto with Hair:

For the notation, you can create a custom text Playing technique, I imagine.
