Can anyone help me fix playback of this? I’m trying to get the string players to execute a long glissando. What I’m hearing in playback is a gliss. for 4 beats, and then a return to the original note after the bar.
I have tried using both the “fall” in the jazz articulations and the regular gliss. with the same result.
I have tried tying the notes first, before applying the gliss.
The “slow gliss.” is plain text only, not a notation item.
I have never used the notation you use for the gliss. I always use a start and target note with a gliss. line in between. You can of course hide the target note to only show the starting note and the line.
To make the gliss. work in a continuous way the expression map (EM) for your instrument needs to have sufficient pitch bend defined. In the expression map you define the maximum pitch bend range under Expression Map data. If this is not the case and you define a larger than defined gliss. range in your score, it will play individual notes like a run even if continuous is defined in the properties. In the Dorico expression map the maximum pitch bend range is 24 half steps.
I have also tried to use actual gliss. library samples but they seldom exactly reflect the range you need. To do this I used hidden user defined articulations.
