I would prefer text to be black!
Which version of Cubase are you using?
I have Pro 12, in this it won’t allow me to select a background grey as light as yours seems to be, presumably because the lighter the background colour the more low-contrast the text is against the background, making it difficult to read.
See my attempt to duplicate your background colour.
I agree it would make for easier readability to opt for black text if you want a light background. Don’t know if that’s possible.
