Curious how you guys edit your vocals quickly to take out room noise? With a gate, manual editing, hit point detection?
I just saw Protools has this strip silence feature. Curious what might be the best way to achieve this in protools

There’s a remove silence feature in Cubase too.
I tend to do a combination of manual editing and a gate. Depends on what you’re recording. If it’s a picked acoustic guitar I’ll probably manually edit it. If it’s a soft vocal I’ll do it manually too - but if it’s louder like brass or a chorus vocal I might just gate it.
I don’t much like the cubase gate however - I don’t really trust it as sometimes it seems to settle on an orange light which it shouldn’t. Very much like the fabfilter gate.
