After using Dorico nearly a month I have to say, I love it. Even if I need to learn a lot to have full control, learning and exploring is a lovely challange. My only issue is what I’ve mentioned here in a previous post is that, the size of the app on the screen of my laptop can’t be reduced to the half of the screen, and I can’t see in a proper size the source file I need to transcript. I’ve tried loads of things, some better, some less good, but still didn’t get to a good solution.
Would it be possible besides owning Dorico 5 pro, using Dorico SE only for writing? Is the frame size of SE smaller than pro? And if so, is it possible to download it to the same computer? I think it is quite a weird question, but I need to get to terms with this, else all joy of using the program is massively reduced.
Dorico Se and Pro are the same executable, it is just the license that enables or disables various features.
There is no difference in the UI, so the screen size will not change.
In addition to Jürgen’s answer, you can start the smaller editions of Dorico by holding down Shift for SE or Alt/Option for Elements on startup. So, no need to install a separate application.
I’m in the car, so just a brief question: what’s the screen resolution of your laptop?
B.
What laptop do you have, and how big is the screen?
There are ways to reduce the size of the window: by right-clicking on the bottom row of icons, you can select to remove some of the buttons and switches there, which will let you bring the window in further.

I’ve a rather small screen laptop, but split screen worked with Finale (and also with all office application) nicely. So even if it is 13 inch or so, size wasn’t a problem. But now using your advice, it works very well with Dorico, too. Music is only a small gap in the middle, but that’s fine with me, when I write the notes, I don’t need larger view anyway! So thanks for the help, it works!
