Inexperiened user here.
I have exported a finale file as an xml file. So far so good until, well into the movement, one of my measures (in 6/8) only has four 8th notes. This skews the rest of the movement by two 8th notes. How can I fix this?
Turn on View Signposts. Select the signpost at that wonky measure and delete it.
Thanks. That worked - until a few measures later where everything is now skewed by a sixteenth note and there is no signpost to be seen. Any ideas?
It’s difficult to troubleshoot this without the file or at least some screenshots. Can you please share those?
- Delete the tuplet under the rests.
- Turn on Insert Mode (I).
- Select one of the 16th rests.
- Shift-B, -1x, Enter.

Also, before exporting XML from Finale run Plugins / Check Region For Durations on the whole piece. Fix any errors that come up then export again and re-import. If you’ve done too much post-import work on the file this time, just remember to do that before exporting from Finale next time.
