Struggling

Hiya,

Total newb here.

I’ve purchased a UR22, cubase AI7 came with it.

I purchased a USB MIDI cable.

I’ve plugged the:

MIDI OUT CABLE - UR22 IN
MIDI IN CABLE - YAMAHA CLAVINOVA OUT

But still can’t find out how to have it record it in midi or anything really.

I know it should work as I have a Arturia Mini Synth (thingy) and that works easily with it.

All I want is to be able to play piano and for it to record it.

I’d use the mini synth thing but I want a full range of keys to play on.

Any help in laymans terms would be very much appreciated!

I’m not entirely sure what you’re doing but plugging a USB midi cable into the UR22 is definitely not the way to go.
You either connect both midi plugs to the clavinova in and output and the USB in your PC, OR
You use 2 midi-midi cables to connect the clavinova in and output to the UR22 in and output. (clavinova out to ur22 in and clavinova in to ur22 out.)
