Cubase lurches through the track seizing, starting, crackling and all with a jerky motion. I upgraded from Cubase Artist 10 which worked well to Pro 13 which is certainly not an upgrade.
I have windows 10 (latest) , an AMD Ryzen 5 CPU, 32gigs of DDR4, and about 350 gigs left on my optimised SSD drive. I use a Focusrite Scarlett 18i6
My Asio guard is set to high
So what’s up? Please?
Hi,
Use LatencyMon utility to test your system, please.
To add to @Martin.Jirsak 's post, run LatencyMon for about 15 minutes and post the results here.
Also make sure that the machine is idling when you run Latencymon. There shouldn’t be anything else active except the general background tasks.
Hi Martin,
Thanks a million for the response - just having an idea where to search makes all the difference in sorting out the problem and now, having watched a video on latency and how it works I found, using the latency monitor where my problem was - Steinberg’s Vocal Chain. Every time I use it it’s showing 10420 samples and at times it’s used on 9 tracks. The other culprit is Steinberg Imager which is showing the next highest sample number at 5250. I’ve tried bypassing all instances of Vocal Chain and all the problems disappear. So I think I’m going to try solo rendering in place with FX for each occasion that Vocal Chain is used and dumping the original and the fx - not a perfect solution but perhaps it’ll work? Thanks again, I’m buzzing with a track I’ve nearly finished and this was really putting the dampers on it.
Hi,
Yes, this should work.
Yes, thanks Martin it has worked
