Subordinate Bar Number Conundrum

Having this issue with my subordinate bar numbers…

When I have ticked ‘Show ranges of bar numbers under multi-bar rests and consolidated bar repeats’, which I need for my multi-bar rests, I get an additional center-aligned instance of my single-measure subordinate bar (8A).

A workaround is force hiding the left-aligned one and then manually dragging the center-aligned one over to the left. Sadly, the center aligned one can’t be force hidden.

Anything I’m missing? A pretty long workaround for a full orchestra score that has a handful of these instances :frowning:

I think part of the issue is that whole bar rests are actually multi-bar rests in Dorico, under the hood. You can see this by selecting the rest in bar 7 and looking at the status bar.

It’s interesting that Dorico knows not to add a centered bar number under that bar 7 but doesn’t do the same at bar 8A, I’m guessing because of the subordinate bar number.

I also note that Dorico puts 1-6 under your 7 bar rest, probably because one of the bars in there also has a subordinate measure number. Is that usual in this style of measure numbering?

I’m doing a bunch of musical theater copying, which traditionally has a handful of subordinate, lettered bars. That first system has a 1A in it. How I would love it to present is [1-1A, 2-6] for the multi-bar rests. But that seems a bit too hard for Dorico to output at the moment and I’m picking my battles with what I want to achieve right now lol.

It is however interesting with just the subordinate bars being treated in the code as multi-bar rests to get this. Ordinary bars don’t have this issue.
