Suddenly "Soft-LICENSE Missing" (Cubase 12...13...14)

Short history in key words:

  • System: APPLE M1, 64GB, 2021, SEQUOIA 15.2
  • I need the system DEC 27th !!!

The Problem:

  • Cubase 12 (2022) plus Upgrade 13 was installed, running perfectly and had been kept up to date until June 2024

  • After 6 Months pause restart now in December
    → ERROR: License missing (OK, Apple installed updates automatically at restart of the system)

  • Check in different sources / forums - could not find analogue issues described

  • Support STEINBERG not reacting

  • … so I thought reinstalling the whole chain of Versions from AUG 2022 onwards (new setup of the whole system)

  • Problem remained even though the installing processes of all steps ran through without any issue … no: even confirmed as successfull

  • OK … next try: Buy and install Ubgrade CUBASE 13 → Cubase 14

  • Problems remain and Version 14 doesn’t work either

WHO CAN HELP?

What products are you talking about? Cubase 12, 13, and 14 do not use the elicenser at all. Launch the Steinberg Activation Manager to see what’s going on.

Sure … I know it’s not eLicenser for these versions. It was all done with the Activation Mgr latest version.

I meant with SOFT-LICENSE the software based rights mgmt without usb dongle

And just to make it clear: All software was purchased legally.

The Elicenser is not in play at all. So it doesn’t matter if the soft elicenser is broken.

Hi Steve … all clear NO USB / E-LICENSER …

After all installation of the C12/C13/C14 I get by starting C14 the message: “No License - program will be aborted” … Whildt installation all checks are OK and it is confirmed that it was successfull.

…and what does it say in the Activation Manager?

aaaahhhh … there’s the stinky fish … out of my history it was still logged in with my old eMail in a different account … changed that, activated … and it runs now Version 14

THX for taking care of my issue … which now seems to be solved.
