Hi Dorico Team,
I really like that Dorico automatically combines an end repeat and a start repeat into a single end/start repeat barline.
I see even more potential in this area.
For example, if you have a double barline at the end of a system and then add a start repeat at the beginning of the next system, the double barline gets removed — and vice versa. I’ve often accidentally deleted a repeat or double barline without realizing it.
It would be fantastic if Dorico would automatically combine these. For me, that would feel more intuitive and efficient than using the properties panel for a ‘barline at the end of a system’.
Best regards,
Johannes
In Library > Engraving Options > Barlines > Repeats, change the option Barline at end of system coinciding with start repeat to Double barline.

Wow, thanks a lot! - I didn’t know about this option.
It behaves a bit differently than I expected. Rather than just combining an existing double barline and a start repeat, Dorico automatically adds a double barline every time you create a repeat at the beginning of a system.
For my purposes (jazz/popular music), this works perfectly — it even eliminates an extra step.
However, I can imagine that some users might prefer the double barline to appear only when they explicitly add it themselves.
Which they can, the barline at the end of the previous system can also be adjusted locally by selecting the barline and changing the respective property in the bottom panel.

Yes, sure. - I’m happy with this solution.
