Suggestion: numerator-only meter changes

Here’s a suggestion for easier meter changes.

When I find myself frequently changing meter back and forth in a given section, it’s usually with the same beat value: 3/4 and 4/4, or 6/8 and 9/8. Sometimes I can enter a single popover value for alternating meter (like 6/8 + 9/8), but it’s often not that strictly formulaic.

It would be quite helpful if, when entering a meter change via the popover, one could type a single number, which would imply that the beat duration was the same as the previous meter.

For example, If I had been in 6/8, typing “9” would imply 9/8. It’s a little thing, but it would add up. I can’t think of a syntactical conflict.

We’ll consider this. At the moment Dorico doesn’t need to look up any state in order to parse the input from the popover, so making it go and look up the prevailing time signature in order to make sense of the input would be something of a change, but it would of course be possible.
