It would be useful to be able to select, say, a semibreve and type split8 or split4 into a popover to get quavers or crotchets. This could even extend to selecting something like a semibreve tied to a dotted minim and typing split14 or split21 for triplets.
It could be a really quick way to write repeated notes.
