Supervision is great...but why no custom offset for VU (0dbfs)?

Yeah just the above

For busses etc the stock is excellent but now I have to download the mvmeter again because I spot check RMS/VU on particular stuff when Im pregaining clips.

Supervision is designed as a multi purpose analysis tool on your stereo out/master. Mvmeter is a simple but powerful latency free VU meter on single channels. Two different designs by nature.

Hi @Reco29
But Im using it on the Control Buss because spot checking there means you dont need to put it anywhere else (like you might do on the listen/solo buss on a console) Im not really sure Im understanding you; I am just disappointing that the Supervision does almost everything except allow user offset for calibration…I downloaded a couple of other vu including TBPA, Waves etc and they all have user defined offsets.

Sure, Steiny arent expected to know it all but to be at least cognisant of whats in the market but also whats on hardware…but maybe Im missing something?

What calibration are you looking for, and what is currently available?

Hi @MattiasNYC

System Calibration: -18db (Superv has this available)
Drums + Bass: -7 and -5 Relative (ie -18=0, Drums actual -25, Drums + Bass: -23.

The idea is to 3 presets that can be scrolled depending on the solo state that is feeding CR; best as fast and fluid as possible. Of course visuals are just to eyeball it…but the older I get, the more important feel is but a quick foundation is great.
Bear in mind also, you can calibrate including <100 hz because the visceral weight of sub varies so much so it comes via a HP filter…if that helps

EDIT: Dont worry, Im just being a bit OCD…Mvmeter works…cheers. Was just hoping for ultra elegance but just not worth it.

Hi,
FWIW, I’m using TBAudio as my favourite VU meter, too. It’s slim and reliable.
If you are looking for more advanced VU meter features have a look at VUMT by Klanghelm.

I am pretty sure that Steinberg is very well aware of possible tasks that are usually related to channel specific VU metering. As I said, Supervision is probably designed to fit different purposes. Hence, these restrictions come with the territory.

Yeah your probs right

TBPA are so underrated, their Clip plug is inexpensive, sounds so good, mband and so flexible…knocked my socks off.

All I needed for vu was just some other offsets I could jump too and its mainly just kick+drums ballpark while clip gaining.

If steiny could just get the routing right in the mixer/upgrade…there would be nothing to whine about and I could just get on with music instead of learning reaper lol…

And I would happily upgrade from 12 but there is still too enticing for me :frowning:
