Hi there, I don’t intend to buy the full version of Dorico, but I was using the free trial up until today. I was just about to export my final project when I got kicked out. I’m freaking out because this arrangement is supposed to be played tomorrow in a band, and I can’t open it or anything. If I buy Elements, will I be able to find that lost arrangement/my other work?
Hi @sunshinycoast10 , I am sorry for the bad timing of your trial end.
I think that even in Dorico SE (the free version), you are able to open projects created by the bigger versions (Element and Pro) and print/export them.
Try (installing)/activating Dorico SE (using your Steinberg account), and see if you can visualise and export your project for your deadline.
Hi, thank you, I’ll try that. I was going to do this first, but I noticed that SE only allows up to 8 players. This arrangement has 14, but I’ll try it anyway. Thank you.
In SE you are limited in the creation of players, but you should be able to open larger projects (created in bigger versions of the software).
As a confirmation, you will see this window appearing:
Got it! I’ll get it right now. Thank you so much.
@sunshinycoast10, I’ve re-enabled your Dorico Pro trial and extended it for a few days so that you can be sure you can complete your arrangement. Run Steinberg Activation Manager and click the refresh button in the top right corner, and you’ll see that your Dorico Pro trial has a few days left.
@dspreadbury Thank you! I’m afraid it still says it’s expired, but I appreciate it. I’ll give it a few more minutes.
Update:
The Dorico trial is still expired, so I downloaded SE. However, because Dorico closed unexpectedly, all of my recent progress on the arrangement is wiped. I don’t know what to do anymore haha. I exported all my parts a few days ago, so I can transcribe those back and then redo the work I did today if my trial works again.
Did you look in the Backup folder, if any possibly recent version of the file exist?
I did, but there’s nothing. Because I was in a rush to make this, I did it all in one sitting plus final touches today. It didn’t occur to me to make a backup because I was about to export them anyway… oops.
Did you refresh it in the SAM?
Also see this:
Yes, I refreshed and quit/reopened SAM multiple times. I believe its because I began the project on my last trial day, but I never closed it, so I was able to continue working on it without getting kicked out (until today). The trial was probably extended to 8/17, which is yesterday.
There are no auto-saves of this arrangement either. It might be because I had multiple projects open.
