I plan to switch from my Intel Windows 10 PC to a MacBook Pro soon. All key apps and plugins I use are natively supported.
Question regarding VST Live:
If I have the same plugins installed on the Mac (lots from Steinberg, Arturia V-Collection, NI Komplete, some U-He stuff), will my saved projects open “as is” ?
… that’s right, @fkalmus. But don’ forget, @ChKK, all Plug-In are black boxes for VST Live. It’s up to the the Plug-In developer to take care that their Plug-In are running on both systems. Don’t forget to create an VST Live archive of your project on your Windows system. And load this archive on your MacOS System.
Regarding the plugins, I was more worried if VST Live PC/Mac use similiar project formats and that things like notes, mixer levels, backing tracks etc. would be transfered. Once I have the project up and running I will do a full review of all the song presets.
It would be nice to know how a Mac pans out. I’m also considering switching so I can use an m2 Mac Mini for live performances. I don’t like MacOs but I see most screenshots from the Steinberg team are from MacOs, so I assume Macs are the primary platform Steinberg uses for developing VST live. The new M4 is too tall to fit in a 1RU space and the placement of the power switch to underneath the computer is bewildering.
You won’t be disappointed…
But if all your life is on windows , VSTL will work as good as on Mac. But for sure windows is windows… you always need to tweak something (personal experience only)
