Hello,
Does anyone know how or have any experience in slaving Dorico to Logic Pro X? For some time now I’ve been doing this with Finale. I would use rewire and slave Finale to Logic. But, since Finale is not continuing, I’m looking to jump to Dorico but want to keep my “regular” work flow by using both Logic and (now Dorico). It’s important to me that Dorico “slaves” to Logic and not the other way around. Thanks for your time and help!
There are plenty of users waiting for this functionality, but Dorico does not currently read MTC so you cannot slave it to a DAW. You can use a plugin in Dorico like TXL Timecode to generate MTC and slave a DAW to Dorico, but the DAW will not follow any tempo changes. You can export or import a tempo map into either Dorico or your DAW depending on your workflow, but any changes have to be edited manually.
Hopefully this will change fairly soon; you are not alone in desiring a robust method of using Dorico and a DAW together.
A fellow forum member made a tutorial outlining the current state of the art in this area and posted about it a few days ago. (It’s always worth searching the forum for previous discussions: you could have found this thread easily by searching for logic sync #dorico
.)
