syncing two mr816csx's

Hi:
have cubase 6.5 all updates.

two mr816 csx’s

Total Number Of Cores: 2

I have no adat’s. I want to hook these up together and sync them.
So, do I have to spif out on one and then spif out to second one or do I really have to use them at all.
I try to record at 44.1 or should I use another, like 48 or 96.
How do I know that they are in sync??

You daisy chain them through the firewire cables. Please see page 43 of the operations manual.

You might want to direct monitor through one set of outputs, when daisy chained (from what I have read) the direct monitoring goes through physical outputs of each unit. There the trouble starts because there isn’t a good solution to get all the monitoring signals from the other soundcard into the main soundcard. This sub-forum of the mr816 is full of comments regarding this problem, just read up.
