To cut a long story short, after a power blackout and crash, due to corruption of rewire and other stuff, I reinstalled WinXP / Cubase etc and now get this Syncrosoft error when starting Cubase. it doesnt stop Cubase from starting up, but would like to fix it. Any ideas ?

Thanks Chris. First I am trying a full reformat as before I only reinstalled windows, maybe old corrupt files were still hanging around.
Well this was definately a case of file corruption. I now have a UPS, and reformatting C: drive and all DAW software fixed it.
