System-attached text: no "=" available?

I’m entering system-attached text in a score, where I’d like to create a tempo equation, “{notehead [1/4 note]} = 124}”

I can enter everything except the “=” sign.

In particular, using the SH-OPT-X command (on Mac), I can directly enter the text number. I also can easily enter the quarter note symbol using “Insert Music Text” (right-click).

However, I can’t enter the “=” sign. When I type it, nothing appears. I’ve then followed directions to enter the corresponding hexadecimal unicode for “=”, and still nothing appears.

Suggestions?

Why using text instead of the tempo popover shift-T ?

gives

But …. text is working here too (Dorico 6.1, MacOs)

Maybe it’s a font problem?

I do generally use the popover SH-T for entering standard absolute tempi.

However, here, for a read-through/taping, the production crew has asked that with all gradual tempo changes, I add the final metronome marking in parentheses over the ‘…’,

for ex.

(a tempo…) ritard. - - - - - - (*) a tempo

Above the “(*)” (over the dotted line, to enter the final metronome setting, at end of ritard., right before returning to “a tempo”. It would seem easiest to use system-attached text.

I’ve now tried again – you’re right, the system-attached text works! I don’t know what the problem was before.

Thanks -
