My setup:
- 3 soloists, 4-line choir, one piano
- The top staff changes constantly (sometimes soloist A, sometimes soloist B, sometimes the choir)
- The piano is always visible
How can I make sure that rehearsal marks, system text, and tempo markings appear above whichever staff happens to be at the top, while above the piano only system text and tempo markings appear, but no rehearsal marks?
My previous experience was that I could control this via
Layout Options → Staves and Systems → System attached Items → Show system objects above specific players
by assigning system text, tempo, and rehearsal marks to the topmost player in the list (e.g. a piccolo flute), and assigning only tempo and system text to, say, violin 1. Dorico would then display the desired items above whichever staff happened to be at the top – even if, for example, the piccolo wasn’t playing and wasn’t shown at all.
In my current score, however, this no longer works. When the top soloist is hidden because they aren’t singing, the system text and rehearsal marks disappear as well.
Does anyone have an explanation for why this is happening?
