Instructions by Dorico to enter notes into tablature is “In Write mode, select an item on the tablature and at the rhythmic position where you want to input notes.” The problem is that there are no items in the tablature staff to select – the staff is completely blank. I only want tablature, not a notation staff. So how do I enter notes into tablature without an item to click on?? Thanks for any help
I knew it!!! After posting my question, I almost immediately figured out how to do it.
(1) That little UP arrow at the bottom of the screen. Click on that if necessary to open up that window.
(2) Click on the guitar symbol and a fretboard will appear
(3) Double click in the tablature staff at the desired location and the note entry caret will appear
I had previously searched for an explanation how to do this and never found it. I also experimented without success and finally posted my question. And then I had a couple more ideas, and one of them worked. IMO Dorico is fairly simple to operate (compared to Finale) so I’m not surprised it was this easy. The problem was just discovering the easy method.
