Is it true that the ‘show Tacet al Fine’ engraving option will work only if the last bars are of the same metre?
I’m working on a piece where, e.g., the Flute is not playing for the last 50 bars of a movement but it is filled with metre changes so… it is not working.
Note that the engraving option is specifically for “Multi-bar rests that extend to the end of the flow”. So anything that would interrupt a multi-bar rest (meter change, key change, tempo change, fermata, etc.) would also interrupt the Tacet al Fine.
There’s been a fair amount of discussion about this, and whether Dorico should allow Tacet al Fine to appear when a player has no more music in the flow, regardless of whether there’s a single multi bar rest.
I’m just thinking out loud…. and not able to test it….
Is it possible on the flute part to either do a local change or deletion of the meter changes so that the tacet will apply; or truncate enough remaining bars for it to give the tacet indication?

That sounds like a great idea since I always have a separate Dorico project for parts and so it would not matter if barlines would break.
Unfortunately, as it often happens, projects require quick solutions or quick workarounds so I will have to test this in the next project.
Thank you for the tip anyway!
