Tacet in chord part

Apologies if this has been suggested before.

Is it possible to make the word ‘tacet’ enterable as a ‘chord’ in a chord part?

There are times I need my guitarist to know to not play over just perhaps a beat or two only.

It seems logical to me to enter the word ‘tacet’ in the Shift-Q popover to make that happen.

Thanks for considering.

I believe N.C. (No Chord) is frequently used when the guitarist or other rhythm player should not play a chord.

Isn’t that different than tacet? It’s been a good number of years since I was reading charts, but I understood it to mean, don’t play chords, and additionally, if there is a single line of music, play that.

Why don’t just show rests (by not entering notes)?

The chords appear on top of a top line vocal part, which both vocalists and instrumentalists use. Sometimes the vocals are present but chords are not required.

N.C might well be an option - I was not aware that could be entered in the popover…
