Template not loading

I’m having a major problem loading my template now:

All my software and VIs are fully updated.

I’ve been shaving down my Rack VSTs to around 42 currently, and instead using the Track Instrument VSTs instead. Ever since doing that this morning, I tried quitting / loading the template again, and it freezes on loading. It seems to get stuck on various Kontakt 7 Rack instruments.

I tried loading without 3rd party plugins, deleting (what seems to be) the culprit Kontakt Rack, re-saving, then quite/re-load the session (now without the culprit Rack). However then it just gets stuck on the NEXT Kontakt Rack instrument!

I suppose I could remove Kontakt from my Plugins folder, load the session without Kontakt, and see if it works. But even if it does, I’d then have to rebuild pretty much the entire template (since it’s 90% Kontakt racks!).

I also tried “Import tracks from project” tip. It seemed to import ok, but then all my VST returns had vanished and it was only MIDI tracks. Again no help.

Any advice as to what to do? I’m lost and I don’t want to have to start from scratch again!..

As you just experienced, you can’t import Rack Instruments using “Import tracks from projects”, or in any other way for that matter. I think it’s a pretty big oversight tbh. I have personally moved away from Rack Instruments almost completely just because of this. The downside with Track Instruments, as brilliant as they are, is that if you activate multiple outputs, you can’t rename the first stereo return separately from the track. Not a showstopper but certainly annoying.
There are also a couple of bugs pertaining to Track Instruments and automation data that does not affect its Rack counterpart.
