Tempo line

The dotted line must be maintained without the highlighted word in the staff above.

The word “rall.col canto” must appear on the bottom staff.

Should I make it into a line in this case?

You could:

  1. Enter a normal rall…, as a Tempo (Shift+T), without “col canto”
  2. In Paragraph Styles, duplicate the Tempo (gradual) PS and add white background to the new one. Rename it as you wish.
  3. Enter col canto as text in the piano staff, and apply your new PS to it.
  4. Select it and switch off Avoid Collision (Engrave Mode, Properties Panel)
  5. Adjust its position in Engrave Mode if needed.

Pressing Shift+T adds tempo above and below.

The desired sheet music must have tempo markings for both the vocal and piano parts.

In my example, rall..................... is indeed entered as a tempo (Shift+T) and shows up in both staves. I then add col canto as a text (Shift+X) with a custom Paragraph Style having a white background.
