Tempo mark in page margin

Hi, I use Dorico 5.1 version. I would like to avoid the tempo mark text (that I created in the popover texting in it) going beyond the margins of the page, cant understand where to fix it

Thank you for your support

I think Dorico can’t do this automatically, because it would then move the starting point of the tempo. It can’t take that responsibility, since it would somehow change the music!

You can move them in Engrave Mode, or change the note spacing for these bars to lenghten them, or put system breaks, or split the long tempo marks in several lines…

Indeed, there’s no automatic solution for these even in the latest version 6.1 . You’re far from the first one to bring this up though (it’s behaved like this from version 1) so it might be somewhere on the developers’ to-do list.

Which is also a rather laborious manual workaround at the moment. Per-layout line breaks in tempo texts is another thing which has been requested multiple times before but not implemented at time of writing.

I wish the proof-reading stuff could warn me if I leave one of those before sending!!!

Shortening those staff labels will give you a bit more room to manoeuvre!

Yes, it was a solution I tried but how can I split several words in several lines? ENTER key doesn’t apply to that

You can enter the text with line breaks in a word processor or in the Project Info > Copyright, for example:

then paste it in the popover:

It is possible to paste more than one line into the Tempo text property field (similarly to things like Project Info fields with only one line).

Now that Tempo marks use Paragraph Styles, they should display correctly.
