tempo recognition - "smooth tempo" greyed out

How can I use the “smooth tempo” function? It is always greyed out here.

Thanks! Stefan

This has always been the case for me also.

I have resorted to manually editing the tempo track to remove the jumps, but surely there is a better way.

I see several threads here, but haven’t found one with an answer. It’s almost as though the feature isn’t actually there!

I’m having the same issue. It really is a mystery!

Has anyone found a solution yet?

Thanks.

I think that the smooth tempo is available when there are wide variations of detected tempo. You can always smooth tempo by selecting the tempo events on a tempo track and going to the right center of the selected temp range where you can compress or expand the tempo values.

Thanks for clearing that up Greg!

yet another pathetic badly designed and implemented ‘feature’ … smooth tempo disabled and yet this tool wants to alter the track tempo according to the groove of the parts… on a totally standard hard quantised 120 bpm ish electronic track… setting the time signature to 4/4 doesn’t seems to make it think in bars of 4/4…You can’t simply ask it to look for the starts of bars and workout the average tempo through the track which isn’t actually changing… shameful rubbish
