Off-topic, because not related to the font issue, but to the naming of the instruments in your list:
It’s rather strange to mention ‘Flute in C’, ‘Oboe in C’ etc. Those are non-transposing instruments, and nobody needs the ‘in C’ specification. It’s even a bit confusing, as if they’re possibly non-standard in your score. Do this only with clarinets or other instruments that are not (always) in C and that may have different transpositions.
That is vastly different from how it looks on my screen. How come? I’m very sorry, but you are talking some strange wizard-language again. I gain nothing by knowing what the technical reasons are. If you want to help me (and I understand it if you’re not, because I’m a major pain in the ass and extremely stupid) but the only way to help me is take my hand and lead me, step by step. Level: grab the mouse … push SHIFT. That really is all I can handle. I understand less than half of the words you are using. Think of me as a stupid three year old, really! Can I fix this? Then I really would appreciate it if you can tell me how in the smallest steps that you can imagine. And then make the steps even infenitely smaller. Ik I can’t fix it, then please tell me! I’ll stop, go back to Bravura/Academico and try to live with it that Dorico just isn’t capable of doing what I want.
The “I’m an idiot” thing is wearing a bit thin, sorry. You’re getting assistance from users who are truly trying to help.
Use Bravura Text for your music text font for the metronome. You can’t use Avenir for that because it’s not designed for the quarter note shape thingie. Avenir bad, Bravura good.
I’m sorry. I know you are a really great help, but I really understand only half of the words, I can’t help that. The metronome text is just fine with Avenir as Default Text font and then Bravura as Default Music Text font. That looks great, as the quarter note fits beautifully in. The problem is with the flats (glyphs?) in the instrument names and in the Info text. A flat causes the vertical and horizontal spacing to change. Does this mean that I can’t use the Avenir Font at all? Or is there a way to make the flats smaller so this doesn’t happen? I will never say that I’m stupid again and am very sorry. Just pointing out I almost know nothing about computers.
Try Bravura text instead for the Default Music Text font,
Jesper
I’ve done that already, so the quarter note is looking great. But all the flats still make very odd spacings, before, after and beneath them.
You have to switch Character Styles / Music Text to Bravura Text. You can’t use Avenir Next. Then your flats will look correct.
YES! That worked! Very Many Thanks!!!
