Tempo track, unreliable snap to grid

Hi,

Creating and editing events in the tempo track is scarier than it need to be. I find that snapping to grid is very finicky, especially when you create new events. And you need to really zoom in sometimes to find errors.

This can and has messed up large projects with lots of tempo changes for me. Errors that gets compounded throughout the project.

Would it be possible to get a “stronger” magnet when snapping and/or some kind of visual feedback on events to show if they are on grid or not?

Dream scenario would be to have subfolders with free time/tempo, independent of the main project.

best regards
Johannes

I always type in the bpm for each node on the info line above. Can’t trust the mouse to drag it to the right bpm (vertical). Snapping tempo nodes on the (horizontal) timeline seems fine though…

Yeah, i do that too. Bigger problem is that when placing a new node on the grid. Even with snap on, the new point is never exactly on the grid. And some times you really have to zoom in to see it. I always have to move it, and then it snaps into place. I wish snap to grid was applied to drawing ( for all kind of automation and MIDI editing) If you dont want snap, you just turn snap off.

Yeah. I find if you do it on the tempo track in the main project window, the snap behaves better when adding nodes. (Verses doing it in the dedicated tempo track editor)

I agree it’s clumsy trying to add a node to the tempo track using the mouse - it’s very difficult to add one at the current tempo - however, using a Key Command it’s perfect. It just drops one where the cursor is, at the same tempo, then adjust in the info box.
