Temporary Vocal Technique Change

I want to insert a few measures of tongue clicks (to simulate horse hooves) in a choral part. I don’t want to change the voice for the entire song. I’ve been researching this but can’t find much on the topic.

AND I’d like to hear it in playback.

Thanks so much for your help,

Rick

Hi @Rick_Moore, for fun I made something. I found a free tongue click sound, made a very simple instrument in Kontakt, created a new instrument in Dorico (which uses that Kontakt instrument) and prepared an example project.

In the attached zip file you find : the D. project, the Kontakt instrument, the percussion map, the playback template (I joined the Auto PT with my little “tongue click” endpoint configuration).

In Dorico basically you assign a new instrument to the player and use Instrument changes.
To learn how to setup instrument, endpoint configuration, expression and percussion maps you can see this course by Anthony Hughes on the Dorico Youtube channel.

Thanks Christian,

This is really over my head. Even when I watch Anthony Hughes’ video, I can’t follow it too well. I think there are a lot of assumptions (of the basics) made that I just haven’t learned yet.

Yet, what I hear in your example it what I’m looking for, except I’d like low AND high pitched notes - kind of like a set of two temple blocks.

I’ll refer back to this post and hopefully, over time, I’ll figure it out.

Thanks again,

Rick
