I’m going into it cold, impulsively, after a bad evening involving Melodyne and Ara 2 management. Celemony and Steinberg really need to succeed in creating functions that do what is advertised. Tonight, for example, I take an event (a clip), which I take care to convert into a file (as a precaution), and I open it in Melodyne. Well, it’s not the one that opens. Instead, I come across a clip that’s been placed 10 minutes earlier, with no request to do so. Redone 4 times. Always the same insane bug. I stop working (and suddenly think of the price of Nuendo and melodyne Studio…). It’s all counter-productive. Exhausting. Does anyone have this problem?
No specifically this problem but…
If I cut a part and invoke Melodyne on it. Most of the time (not all) it will not bring up a Melodyne window.
Then sometimes it will bring up the window and I can make the edits. But as soonas I either ‘Bounce’ or 'Make Extension Permanent (which is the same feature doubled!?!) I get a blank WAV.
The only way around that one is to bounce the cut up clip BEFORE I invoke melodyne on it. Then I can confidently edit the part and bounce it.
There are 2 other major bugs with ARA and Melodyne also, , , ,
Yes, I’ve experienced something similar. The truth is that this function only works in a fairly simple setting. As soon as the session gets complicated, or the extension is called up on a lot of clips, it gets messy and the links get lost.
I’m now using Spectralayers PRO as an extension. I’ll see if it’s the same thing. Maybe it’s a melodyne problem, not a Steinberg one.
But it seems to me that the two should talk to each other. I don’t understand why this kind of problem isn’t corrected.
Same error with Synchro Arts RePitch. With Melodyne and Repitch it is often a coincidence where you are in the timeline. The error is probably related to ARA.
And yes - edited clips should be bounced to one file.
However, I occasionally lose changes in both programs after an hour - or sometimes when the project is restarted. Therefore, I immediately make all edits permanent…
I have already read here that there are the same problems with Spectralayers Pro.
Therefor I suspect that ARA is not fully developed in all companies.
That must be it. I remember there were serious problems with Samplitude too. I’d lose all connection with the files being processed. It’s not much better on the other side of the border…
So you need to proceed with caution and, indeed, apply the treatment immediately.
ARA 2 is currently a joke. Still using Melodyne as an insert unfortunately…
I’m working on a relatively simple session and the same problem keeps recurring: Melodyne loses its links to clips (events). You open a clip with the extension and …nothing. You end up with another clip, elsewhere in the session, which has nothing to do with it.
You must therefore always replace each clip to be edited in Melodyne by an independent file, then process it in Melodyne, then make an independent file again. So 3 files for one event.
Has there been any progress with this since last year? I often have horrible results with Melodyne using ARA, audio disappears, editing the file after Melodyning it causes the wrong file to be played…
No luck here still. ARA2 is broken and is suitable only for simple YouTube demos - not for real work.
I haven’t had an occasion to use it but literally 2 days ago Melodyne released an update and the first patch note is " * Pro Tools and Cubase with ARA: When opening a project with Melodyne, crashes sometimes occurred."
Isn’t all this more about limitations with ARA2 rather than issues specific to the apps concerned. It would seem that ARA is still very much a less-than-perfect solution.
