How do you insert the title of a song using text ABOVE the music in a Medley of songs?

Did you try to set the title under File->Project Info?

System text or Staff text.

If each song is a different “movement” in the medley, then you probably want flow titles (which you set in Project Info). But if the medley is one long movement, with one song running into the next, then @Janus’s suggestion of system text is probably best.

Shift-x for staff text (appears on the specific staff only) Shift-alt-x for system text (appears in all parts, but only above the top staff in a score by default)

Medleys often have tune titles embedded in the score like this…

These can be entered as system text (eg. shift-alt-X Daughter of the Regiment) at the location in the score that you need them. They will appear on all parts.

Sorry, forgot to mention. If you need formatting to be different for different types of text. (For example, I have 1 for section labels, one for click track cues, 1 for sound names on keys parts etc) You can set up different paragraph styles for each and set keycommands to invoke the text popover with that paragraph style selected.

Makes it very easy to add text in whatever style you need quickly
