Text-Absolute vs. Staff-relative

I have a question regarding Absolute vs. Staff-relative text sizes in Dorico.

When working on a part layout where the vocal staff is set to 5mm and the piano staff is set to 7mm, and lyrics are set to an absolute value:

  • If I leave the checkbox unchecked in the area highlighted in orange (with the red arrow), does it default to the checked 9.5pt Absolute setting above it?

  • When editing text styles, if I don’t check the “Part” option, does that text setting default to the Full Score by default?

Yes to both of your questions. (I think they’re really the same question. Paragraph styles by default apply to all layouts. But by turning on the “Size in parts” toggle, you are able to specify a different size that applies only to part layouts.)

This is also a fairly easy thing to figure out with a little experimentation.
