This should be simple but I cannot find the answer:
I entered the ‘D minor’ and ‘G minor’ in Engrave mode with a text frame, but the text frames do not move with the staff when respaced. How do I attach text like that outside of the rhythm grid?
If you want text to move with the staff then you need to used staff-attached text in Write mode. Engrave mode will attach the text to the page.
Don’t quote me but I think if you adjust the horizontal position relative to the staff then it will keep this position if you move the staff vertically. It’s worth a try…
EDIT: I just tried and it does.
“adjust the horizontal position relative to the staff”
How do you do that? I can only find entering text at locations in the Rhythm Grid. (Shift-X)
In Engrave mode, select the text and drag it. It will still be attached to the same rhythmic position.
Thanks. Enter it in Write and move it in Engrave.
I would consider setting this up with each key exercise as a separate flow, and make use of the automatic flow heading feature.
You can then edit the flow headings template and Flow Title paragraph style: make the paragraph style a smaller font size and left-aligned; make the text frame in the flow heading template a bit shorter.
And crucially: name each flow after its key!
This will ensure a consistently spaced result and key text left-aligned with the page margin. Plus, indented first systems for each flow automatically.
Thanks for the suggestion, Lillie. I gave it a try and found it worked well.

The ‘D minor’ etc is the flow title and the ‘Bass Viol’ is the flow subtitle (with leading set to 70%). I am slowly getting the hang this with all the forum help.
Looks great!
You can change the gap between the flow headings and the music here if you want:
And an alternative way of getting the “Bass Viol” in would be to put that on the First page template, and you could even use the layout name token - eg if you wanted to have multiple instruments in this project, and use this page setup for all of them but with different instrument names at the top.
