Text distance from staff

Has this issue been solved yet?

I want a small distance between texts and staves (like in bar 5 and 6). When I set the distance in the preferences (Library > Paragraph Styles > Default Text > Distance from staff) to 0, the text above is fine but the text under the staff looks like in bar 7. However when I increase the distance so that the text under the staff looks good, the text above the staff looks way to far away from the staff (bar 4).

I recommend creating a new paragraph style that defaults to below the staff, with a different value that achieves your desired distance from the staff. If you save the paragraph as default, you can then create a key command for it. Then you don’t have to flip the text under the staff each time.

Oh, that’s cool. Thank you very much!
I’ve never created my own paragraph styles before. But now that I know that it’s possible I’ve not only created one for text below the staff but also one for framed text. Life is easier now. Thank you!

Just a reminder: The text in your example does not use any glyphs that go below the baseline, like g, y or p. Otherwise the text in bar 6 would also go below the top staff line and look bad.

If the glyphs went below the base line, the examples would look better

Sure, I have that in mind. Thank you!
