It might be good to have this problem addressed in a different topic. I have Boxed Text for my Layou Names, because I really like it eastetical and for clarity. Now the layout name on every left (so even) page is partly out of the box. @asherber has opened this file:
Troubleshooting 2.dorico (2.4 MB)
And he didn’t encounter that problem. It happens with all fonts I tried, not only Avenir. Anyone an idea?
It definitely seems like a bug. I’m not sure when it crept in, but I just tested in D5.1.81 and it exists there too so it’s not new to D6.
Thanks for checking! I’m not using 6 yet, so maybe it is solved in 6. Let’s wait if sombody chimes in with a solution (untill the bug is fixed…)
No, unfortunately it’s in 6 too.
On my system D6 Windows 11 it also behaves very strange.
Okay, thanks for sharing. Good to know I’m not the only one having this problem. What I do now is add spaces behind the layout name thingy (string or whatever it is called) in the page template. It still isn’t symmetricla, but up to the bug fix, or another idea, Il live with it.
Kind of solution could be to set on the first page template the layout name always top left and delete the pagenumber. That is quiet normal for a first page.
In the default page set the layout name center together with flowsubtitle and flowtitle with the header paragraph style.
Anyhow I think that is what I would do. it is not what you want but you have an consistent look.
@dspreadbury I don’t know if this known, but is problaby an bug.
Thanks, Maarten! But indeed, it’s not what I want … damn, I’m a diva
I was doing some layout formatting tests for individual parts and came across a very similar issue with the left-page layout name labels.
After a few trials, it appears that the problem comes from the capsule-style border. In your file, I tried to replace it with a rectangle or a rounded rectangle border and it looks like it resolves the issue.
My own trial:
Hmm So the Capsule-box isn’t useable… Are we the first to discover this? I can hardly imagine.
After a quick check on the forum, it seems this has not been reported yet, which is surprising, since I just tested it in Dorico 5 (my earlier test was with Dorico 6), and the issue is the same.
The capsule border works fine except when it is right-aligned—either through Alignment > Right or using Inside/Outside Edge when it ends up on the right.
But the team reads all the messages of this forum, so they are probably already aware—or will be soon!
Indeed, we are aware of this issue and it’s on our backlog to be fixed. Sorry for the inconvenience in the meantime.
Say that I’m not able to undate to Dorico 6 because of my older Mac, will you bring out a fix in Dorico 5 also? Or is that really too much to ask for?
No, I’m afraid we have no plans to release any further updates for Dorico 5, sorry.
