Text Rotation in Dorico Pro 6.1

Hello everyone,

I’d like to ask whether it is possible to change the rotation of text within a text frame. I wanted to add the date and place information as vertical text (rotated 90 degrees) at the very end of my score, but I can’t figure out how to do it. In Finale this was quite straightforward, so it feels odd that it doesn’t seem possible in Dorico. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi @orvelozbayrak, you can create a vertical line (from the right panel > Lines) on the last note. The line should have an invisible body*. You can write the text directly in the Properties Panel. Then reverse it if desired, and position it where needed, in Engrave mode, where you can also activate the override for Avoid collisions and leave it uncheck. You can customise the font style for all vertical lines text in menu Library >Font Styles.

Dorico file example:
vertical text.dorico (1.7 MB)

(*) Here how to create an invisible line body (from menu Library>Line bodies…):

Add-on:
you can also create the text for an horizontal line…And rotate it as desired, dragging the control points in Engrave mode in many crazy ways, but is easier to obtain the verticality using vertical lines instead.
