Is there a way yet to have text behave like it’s part of the music so it would fit within the margins instead of it falling out?
I’m creating a method where I need to have multiple fonts for different things (default text/different font for solfa/sometimes MusGlyphs), so I can’t use the Flow Heading Overrides to attach a token to it.
I know things like these work better in dedicated graphic softwares, but since this is an option I’d love to have anyway, I thought I’d ask!
Even music isn’t strictly constrained to the margins. Dorico uses the music frame top margin to calculate the distance from the music frame to the top of the first staff, but anything above the staff is not included in the calculation. If you have a small music frame top margin and notes above the staff, they will protrude above the music frame.
So I think what you’re looking for is an automatic way to ensure that everything attached to a staff automatically stays within the music frame, which Dorico doesn’t currently have.
Maybe creating some extra page templates differencing in top margins might be a good (but manual) workaround.
If something needs too much space above, change the page template for that page to one that has sufficient margin

I’ve thought about doing the page template thing, but since I’m in the early stages I need the flexibility to move things around. Since the page templates are page-based at the moment, that limits me in what I need.

For now, I’ve created a separate flow for all the exercises and added an empty flow heading override to provide more space for text. I’ve kept it as system text. It works, but I really wish for grouped flows and flow titles in front of the system in a project like this!
If you are in the early stages, it is too soon to worry about every aspect of final spacing; finish the music and then work out the layout specifics.
