Well - the old method is not quite restored. If I mute the bottom lane the lane above doesn’t play. It’s still the muted track that shows in the master track. I have to use the comb tool to select the lane.

UPS…- I stand corrected… - if the “Treat Muted Audio Events like Deleted” setting in the Preferences is ON then it works as in CB 5. Great

I guess he (Helge Vogt) tried to tell that if we clicked the main track (on which the lanes resides) after recording some additional takes to your previous comp, it would keep your comp intact.

Thanks for clarifying. If indeed it’s that simple, then hooray! Sounds good to me.

Yes, it’s working like that

Unfortunately, this does not work that way. I tried it starting with an existing comp from 6.05: recorded a new take, clicked on the main track (with comp tool or select tool); No return of the original comp. I also tried by creating a complete new comp with 4 new lanes (comp of three and then a new 4th take): No return of the original comp.

The only way to get the original comp back is by moving the last take out of the track to a new one. Now that defeats the whole purpose, ofcourse. Can someone verify? Or, if I’m too thick; clarify?

I think this is a kind of language misunderstanding. And this is what you have to do:
You have to click ON THE NEWLY RECORDED takes/lanes with the Comp Tool.
This will bring your previous comp back in focus.
Once used to it, it works ok.

Right! Thanks Bredo, that was it, not clicking on the track but on the new lane(s).

Two things I miss in this regard: Instead of clicking on “all new” takes one at a time, I wish we could click once for all takes in the same “cycle”.

Another thing that would be nice: When we now can (with right click) select to move a Lane to new track.
Why can’t we choose to move our comp to a new track (top main track/or events)?
It would make more sense than to move a Lane (and only parts of our comp) to a new track, wouldn’t it?
