That Cubase "feel"

Ok, bear with me :face_with_open_eyes_and_hand_over_mouth:

Is it just me, or does Cubase “feel” differently than most other DAWs? Every time I use it I get the feeling that the DAW is running on top of big database with multitude of tables inside of it and every action is some sort of SQL query that collects the relevant data across those tables and displays required result. It’s visible many dialog screens, general and per-window or per-track settings, visibility options, studio, pool, etc. Even the notes in piano roll or parts on the timeline have that feel, like they’re separate from the actual project and only “linked” somehow via an index specifying track & position.

In some weird way everything feels detached, separate and disconnected, but it all snaps back together so nicely and firmly, with that German precision and robustness

I don’t post this as a criticism! I like it, it’s well executed (with the exception of occasional GUI inconsistencies) and it’s kind of impressive, too!

Was just curious if it’s only me, or is there something to it?

That feeling may also come from the old GUI that doesn’t really use enough animations and other modern techniques that make everything more fluid and connected.

Actually, most programs are things that write and retrieve data from a database.

I’m aware of that.

But no program I ever used gave off such a clear cues of that like Cubase does. That’s what I meant
